Cheers, Jim

Don't blink; blink and you're dead. Don't turn your back, don't look away, and don't blink. Good luck!

And here I was just about to ask if it was getting to be necessary.

No such problems required now!

Same here

I'm glad Jim's here tonight!

Upton and this park...

don't get along for fielding, do they..

by snakecharmer on Apr 14, 2008 11:33 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

J-Up's fielding doesn't go well with a lot of parks so far.

by foulpole on Apr 14, 2008 11:45 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Some parks don't get along with Upton.

For example, baseball parks.

You should see him fielding at Grand Teton National Park, though. Great range.

Every time someone calls him J-Up, I want a shirt with a Super Mario Brothers-style shirt for Upton.

His slide piece isn't anywhere near what is has been in the past but that happened in his 1st couple starts last year as well. He did get it worked out before he went on the DL. So I'm thinking that he'll be able to snap it off after a couple starts.

I'm not too picky...

I was just thinking IV because kishi started us off with the nice SF reference.

Yes, it was an excellent segue into nerdiness.

everytime they "check in with Bob Fitzgerald", we're not seeing/hearing it because MLB is streaming the direct video feed from the ballpark, rather than thru the station?

Shallow pop

To right field. Upton dived, didn't get it, and the Giants got a runner on second with no-one out.

However, Hudson rescued us.

J-Up's first move on Rowand's hit was moving back. Then he moves in and he should have just let the ball drop in front of him for a single. But, he cheeses and it results in a double. Then O-Dawg makes a great play to erase Rowand for scoring position ( where he should never have been).

I'll take O-Dawg on a three year $36 mil extension. We need his D with all these other young guys figuring out how to play.

by foulpole on Apr 15, 2008 12:11 AM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Unfortunately

I don't know that $12 mil a year is going to do it. O-Dawg wants to get paid.

by DbacksSkins on Apr 15, 2008 12:12 AM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

you would hope

I think Utley got a 7yr $85M deal or something like that. That roughly breaks out to $12M/yr so you would think that ODawg could take that payday with ease.

I think the length of the contract would be interesting. He probably wants a longer term deal then a $$ deal. For example, he would take $10M/yr for 5 years instead of $12M/yr for 3

Because the Spurs play very dirty.

Well, what REALLY pissed me off...

...is the way it was "not about fairness", but it was "about the rules".

And then, when the referees get caught breaking NBA rules by gambling in casinos, the NBA responds by changing the rules.

I'm NOT a huge Suns fan. I don't particularly like the NBA.

However, it DID offend my Arizonan sensitivities because I felt like the series was NOT honestly won by the Spurs.

And then when the whole scandal with the dirty refs came out, it was a complete double standard. That ticked me off even more.
