Ticket selection help requested
Hi D'backs fans. Visitor from Lets Go Tribe here.
My son and I are heading West for summer vacation. Stop in Phoenix to see a game, trip to Grand Canyon then on the Anaheim to watch the Indians and Angels.
I am looking for advice on tickets. What do you think are the best tickets? The best value? Best among what might be available when tickets go on sale.
If I need to, I would be willing to go to $50 or $60 per ticket. This is likely our one and only trip to see a game in Phoenix.
I received some good input on Halos Heaven and I am sure I will get some here.
Thanks in advance.
Indy Dave

Well
It seems to me that there aren't any bad seats in the lower bowl, but you'd be looking at anything from $25-215 a seat.
If this is the only time you think you're going to see a game in Phoenix, and don't mind spending a bit more, I'd probably go for Infield Box ($60) or the Baseline Box ($37) that way you have a better impression of Chase Field then if you were up in the cheapies.
A couple other things to recommend: Chase Field is infinitely more enjoyable when the roof is open, so if you can make it in April/May that's the ideal time. There's a ton of parking in the area, including 2 garages right next to the stadium (one on Jackson & 3rd and another on Washington & 5th) and interesting things to see and do in the area if you have the time/inclination. Getting out of the downtown area can be a little nuts if you've never been, but the flow of traffic is generally reasonable.
thanks for the input
Plan is to fly in Friday late morning. Have a room at the Springhill Suites near Chase Field. Explore the immediate area before the game. Get up Saturday morning, take the hotel shuttle back to the airport and rent a car to drive to the Grand Canyon.
Thanks the input - appreciate anything anyone else cares to add. Looking forward to the trip.

You didn't specify a date
July 4th vs. San Diego, and July 18th vs. the Dodgers. Both of those games are likely to be very well attended. There will be a fireworks show after the July 4th game for sure.
The sight lines in Chase Field are all pretty good. If you are happy to spend 50-60 a ticket, then you will want to sit in the lower bowl and be close to the field, although the "Diamond Level" seats are good too. In any case, you should have no trouble finding seats between the bases at that price either in the lower section or in the Diamond Level. One point about the lower bowl however, especially if you are more towards home plate....you don't want to be further back than about Row 33 or 34, as the overhang will obstruct some of your view of the scoreboard and even high fly balls. But there are no obstructed field views anywhere.
If you can't find seats you like on March 1st when single game seats go on sale, be sure to look for the Ticket Exchange in the Ticket Center Box on the left side of the D backs home page at mlb.com
They allow season ticket holds to sell seats through that exchange, and you can usually find better deals there than you can on Stubb Hubb and the like.
I did see seats available in section 118, row 33 for 53$ a seat at this site:
http://www.ticketsnow.com/TicketsList.aspx?PID=556973
Thats not a bad deal, considering you budget. Those are good seats.
Finally, if you look on the right side of this side and scroll down to the Diamondbacks Tickets section, you will see contact info for Mike Dellosa. Tell him AZ Snakepit sent you.
Enjoy your trip.
D-back Ticket Marketplace is your best bet

I would recommend being near seats 11&12 as that is the left part of the section and will get you pretty much right down the right field line (and just left of the net).
one thing to note, the last few rows (5 or 6 maybe?) are covered (i.e. overhang from section 200).
Most seats in the 115-128 section are good and a low row number will be pretty easy to come by (via dbacks.com or stubhub.com). Note: in the sections I listed above, the rows start at 22 or 23, so don't be worried if you get one of those sections and see row 28. That 28 is from field and not from the front of the section)
Couple of thoughts
Those would be the best seats on your budget, but I wouldn't mind sitting anywhere on the lower-level. We've sat pretty much in most areas downstairs, from two rows behind the D-backs dugout, to the outfield bleachers beside the pool [which would expose you to one of Chase's unique aspects], and they all have their merits. We quite like the bullpen reserve seats, and even for Premier Games, they're only $20, so are very affordable. I've also heard good things about the upper level, directly behind home plate; some people have season tickets there and that works out at only $8 per game. Probably not the best seats for a one-off visit though.
Definitely worth getting to the stadium early. If he's of that age, your son can run around the outfield bleachers during batting practice, and try to snag a ball. You can also hang out down the first- or third-base lines: you don't need a field-level ticket to be there until close to first pitch. You'll get to see a lot of the players, and maybe snag some autographs too. Foodwise, you've definitely got to try the Mexican food while in Arizona: I'm pretty sure it's better than in your hometown! Shame you're not staying for longer, as it's always fun to meet fans of other teams. Well, unless they're Yankees. :-)
Thanks
It will be the Dodgers game on July 18. The budget is somewhat fluid, but we are going to 5 MLB games on this trip (also doing 3 Cleveland at Angels and 1 Nationals at Dodgers) plus two days at Disneyland. My "budget" is more saying that I won't pay $100 or more for "great" seats, but could go over the $50-$60 if I am in a good mood that day. :)
I had a lot of success with StubHub last year. Got seats for at or only a few $ above what I would pay at the gate (if available) in Cleveland, St. Louis, Baltimore and Washington. Seats in DC were five rows behind the dugout and four rows behind Senator Reid. At Baltimore and St. Louis we were just above where the umpires come out.
Jim - I would love to stay more. But when my son and I are working on seeing as many parks as we can, we don't stay long in any one place unless the Indians are playing. We wanted to work San Diego in on this trip with the Angels and Dodgers, but could not make the calendar work. Will try to catch the Padres, A's and Giants next summer. Figure one game and a trip to the Grand Canyon (my first since I hiked it 20+ years (and 80+ pounds) ago) will do for now.
Will start checking out StubHub as well as the Dbacks sites.
