Did Diamondhacks get booted?
And if so why? What is the true goal of this site? Free discussion of the D-Backs, the opera, movies, other?? agree with the boss? And if you don't you get the boot? Really I'm asking what the goal of this site is. Is it to discuss the D-backs? Please help.
Thank you

Just
because there are communal aspects here doesn’t mean it’s really a open forum. Since it’s Jim’s site, we play by his rules. If he wants to make a little piece about something he knows many of the active posters are going to like, even if it isn’t about baseball, he has the discretion to do so. Since it’s his site, he gets to decide what is talked about and how it is run.
The flip side to this is that we as browsers get to go where we want. If we don’t agree with Jim, we’re more than welcome to find another place or start our own.
Now I don’t know if any particular person has been booted, but it’s laughable to suggest that merely disagreeing with Jim is grounds for a ban. I might be one of the most contrarian people on here, yet I haven’t even had a threat of a ban. That might be because I’m not an ass, though, at least not most of the time.
On the side bar you can find this little link that should give you a reasonable expectation of what to expect at this site: “Also expect mentions of the multiple non-baseball related projects and hobbies with which we’re involved. For an idea, check out TrashCity.org, our pop culture and film website; Comedy SlamFest, the biggest stand-up comic contest in the state; GirlsWithGuns.org, home of the action heroine; and TrashCity.com, the mail-order bead supplier that keeps a roof over our head. Movies, music, comedy, sports entertainment (pro wrestling + roller-derby) and beads are all an integral part of my life, so expect no less here.”
If there’s anything for improvement, it probably would be a codified rule list so that way people don’t have an excuse of “well I didn’t know” but that’s still at Jim discretion because it’s still his site.
I hoped this cleared up some basics for internet communities, but this question probably would have been better sent directly to Jim.

No boot
I did suggest that he hold off on posting until he could do so in a mature manner, as some aspects of his recent posts were not acceptable. Not, I should stress, for the views themselves, but the way in which they were expressed – and which would have been unacceptable coming from anyone.
The main goal, yes, is to discuss the D-backs. However, it’s up to the D-backs to give us something to discuss, and they really haven’t done so this off-season! So, as noted by soco, we will discuss other things too as and when the demand arises. Just about every forum I’ve ever been a part of does the same thing – few are focused absolutely on their topic, 100% of the time. And I note that the iPod post received more comments than just about anything I’ve written here since the end of the regular season.
I just checked his user info.
No, Diamondhacks has NOT been banned.
This is not a democracy. It is a benevolent dictatorship, with Jim playing the role of Cincinnatus. Technically, Jim can boot somebody for something as trivial as disliking their username.
Diamondhacks HAS been banned in the past, I believe; (It was before my time here) remember that he also runs his own blog, so if he were banned, he’d probably have remarked about it there.

Argh.....
Jim’s post made me post prematurely!
Anyway, Jim’s never banned anybody as far as I know (besides obvious spammers) without giving them AT LEAST one direct warning, and NEVER for their views — but for how they express them, rather. There is an unspoken but widely-understood minimal code of decency and courtesy here that, if followed, should prevent any poster from saying something to get themselves banned.

THAT'S IT! YOU'RE BANNED!!
(Remember, I wasn’t around for that at the time)
Fire Vinny Cerrato, the raquetball partner.
Though I think
Even Vic would admit, I was fully justified on that one. :-)

Well , um , yeah.
I don’t , however , recall the “direct warning” , which might be due to selective recollection…
…or not.

Fitting , a right – to – post site.
Can’t argue with success though.

I've obviously missed some things in my leave of absense
I have no idea what this is about, but I guess this will teach me to at least lurk daily.
Let's go Colts!
That's it. You're banned
Poor spelling is simply unacceptable here. What do you think this is? The azcentral.com forums?
:-)

uhm
instead of spamming this board, why don’t you go ask the person in question? Novel idea, i know, but his old site is active again.
It's a job that's never started that takes the longest to finish.

I actually find it somewhat amusing
that Diamondhacks himself never posted to this thread. Maybe he’s too clever for that.
Also, where has foulpole disappeared to since this FanPost?
Ceci n'est pas une signature.
Hmm
foulpole hasn’t commented since CoJack won the MVP vote. Coincidence?
"That's a cop-out, and you know it, and it breaks my heart into a thousand pieces that we ain't gonna save America with your blog today."
I doubt it
although foulpole can certainly speak for himself.
People fled Manhattan after 9/11, and this Cojack lather might be the worst case of mass hysteria since.
Thank you for letting me talk
