D-Backs cut 31 employees from front office
"The Diamondbacks cut 31 employees from their front office Friday, moves that team President Derrick Hall said were a result of rising expenses and a sluggish economy. "This move was strictly about efficiency," Hall said. "We had to take a good, hard look at how efficiently we were operating, especially in a challenging economic climate."... Hall said the TV program D-backs Playin' Hardball "might be going away," although he said the team could find another way to produce it."
In the current economy, no business is immune to this kind of trimming. Though the comments on the story at the Republic are largely the kind of brain-dead nonsense you'd expect, i.e. "Let the multi-million ball players pay their (employees) salaries!! I'm sure they're not affected. No more Diamondback tickets for my family. This is pathetic."

Ouch
We’ll probably see more of the same for a while.
We are gonna get drunk with Adam Dunn and we're gonna head-butt some damn kangaroos.
What caught my eye
Hall said the team had the largest full-time workforce in baseball and still is among the top 5.
Really?! The spendthrifts whining about other people’s costs hired more full-time employees than… the Yankees? Interesting. Just what were these hordes of employees doing, exactly? Not selling tickets, evidently :-)
