India's top pitchers try out for MLB scouts
"Dinesh Patel and Rinku Singh had never seen a baseball before they entered and won a contest in their native India in February by throwing one very fast. Curious Major League Baseball scouts were impressed Thursday by how far the two 19-year-old former javelin throwers have progressed as they tried out at the Physiotherapy Sports Clinic in Tempe..."
They're a pair of former javelin throwers, and one was clocked at 94 mph in their session. There's a billion people in India...sure a few of them have the right stuff. You can find out more about the event here:

This is interesting.....
Former Arizona D-Backs pitcher Mike Fetters said such an experiment is more than worthwhile.
“I’d give them a shot. They showed you they can pitch. The next step is can they get people out,” Fetters said.
“If one of them made it, you open the door to India.”
You are starting completely from scratch. I think it would be a worthy investment of time and manpower to see how far either one of these two could go.

from their blog:
Dinesh and I took a plane trip with JB sir to Arizona. Arizona ia very clean part of US. It is very hot in day and in night very cold.
Today we met Mark sir from ESPN and he spent many time interviewing us today for TV program. It was first time Dinesh and I have to do big talking in English. Pitching is hard, but for us media is even harder.
So they are HERE. This is really an interesting read.

what makes it so fascinating
is their insight to our culture which is just as foreign to them as the game of baseball. You have GOT to read the blog about halloween!! Loved it

They also had a squad of women that…dance in time with the music
There’s music? I’ve concentrated on this “squad of women” since puberty. Who knew!

Hahaha!
There you go. :-) Duly hidden. Not a prob: rather have an interesting story posted twice, then not at all! It’s certainly a fascinating idea, simply based on the huge size of the raw talent pool – three times the size of America. They would really need to be taken in hand to learn even the basics, but if they played cricket [which is very big in India], then I imagine they would have a start, since the general concepts of hand-eye co-ordination, throwing and catching, etc. are similar. We just have to stop them from bouncing the ball on the way to home-plate…
