roster
Currently, we only have 33 names on the 40 man roster. There may be a few that are added shortly but 7 open spots seems a little high.
Maybe we will be looking to pick up a player or two in the upcoming Rule 5 draft?

Probably
a combination of trades, Rule 5, and designating dudes in the minors to the 40 man. Now who these people will be? I have no idea.
I’m a little iffy about getting too many guys from Rule 5 though. We already have enough semi-useless bench players.
You keep on rowin', and I'll keep on smilin'.
The Diamondbacks added six players to the club’s 40-man roster Thursday. The team selected the contracts of infielder Pedro Ciriaco, right-handed pitchers Jose Marte, Kyler Newby and Cesar Valdez and left-handed pitchers Leyson Septimo and Clay Zavada. These selections bring Arizona’s 40-man roster to 39 players.
There goes 6 of the 7 spots.
My google-fu
is weak right now, but I can’t find a current list of the players eligible for the Rule 5. Is there a list all in one place so we can figure out of there are any worthwhile players?

Not been able to find one
However, it seems teams are still finalizing their rosters, so any such list would be largely useless at the moment. The Twins just put eight men on to their 40-man, so it’s still early. Of course, the catch is, any players selected have to stay on the major-league roster for all of next season, or be offered back to their original team at half price. So it’s not just a question of having space on the 40-man, but also whether we have the room to keep them on the 25-man roster all next year.

I assume that the D-Backs will add some players for the farm as well. I just thought that all seven spots may not be used up.
Also, our bench and ‘pen doesn’t look very strong as far as the 25 man roster goes.
Our bench
wasn’t very strong last year, either.

Could somebody
please ask foulpole not to post anymore FanPosts that require filler? If it’s a question that is that brief, it should be in a FanShot, not a FanPost. It’s less of an issue right now during the offseason, since this site is much less active, but it should be a general guideline, I think.

Yeah. I think
my New Year’s resolution, starting early, is to be less sarcastic to foulpole. At least when he doesn’t explicitly deserve it. Not that he would notice. But this is a serious request.

It's one of those tricky things...
I wish there was a way to move Fanposts to Fanshots, etc. but there isn’t. It is a good general rule, but in this case, the issue was a) relevant, and b) could be expressed succinctly, so I’m not too concerned. I think there’s a perception that Fanshots are second-class citizens, perhaps a result of there being further down the page than Fanposts? Maybe I’ll see if they can alternate positions on a monthly basis…

I'd recommend
putting it at the same height on the other side of the page. Possible? No? Well then ignore anything I say. It’s not important anyway
Let's go Colts!
Unfortunately
The location is locked by by SB Nation masters. I guess they want to get a somewhat common look and feel across the whole empire, which I can understand. Nice idea though.

Well.....
that was certainly an ignominious end, and a bit of a perplexing move. (For the Dbacks, anyway. Makes perfect sense for Jamie)

$240,000 was the best deal that the org could get for Sushi D’Antona (either that or JB is an idiot).
All well.
We still have 2 spots open on the 40 man just before the rule 5.
Maybe we pick up a name or two?
Would be nice
to have the org use that money on a player.
