Arizona Fall League get-together! ** November 15 **
Got a letter from the Diamondbacks today. Fortunately, it wasn't a cease-and-desist, but an invitation to come to the Fall League. Basically, they're giving us as many tickets as we had for the group outing in August, to go to a Fall League game for free. Since that would be more than 50, thought it might be nice to get together at one of these.
Poll opinions were basically evenly split on this. However, when I brought up the issue to Mrs. SnakePit, and mentioned the two dates, she gave me what could be described as the Look of Death. I'd forgotten that October 25th is actually the SnakePitette's 21st birthday, so that one is clearly a no-go. November 15th it is. We intend to tailgate for a couple of hours before the game, so you're welcome to join us at the park for that.
Now with info in the comments on the pre-game get together, where tickets will be distributed! Though I still have some tickets left if anyone else wants to throw their hat in the ring...

I voted
for Oct. 25th but either date would work for me. I’ve never been to HoHoKam park, either, so maybe I should have voted for the November date. Either way, free baseball? Sign me on!

Though I slightly lean towards the game in a more central portion of the valley.

Phoenix Muni
isn’t too much of a haul for Scottsdale, unless you live way north. And even if you did, getting to Scottsdale Stadium isn’t much closer than Muni anyways.

Yep. Everything's far and farther from here.
Besides being closest, that’s still my favorite field. But, like with the distance, it’s all good.

The only
Spring Training parks I’ve been to have been Scottsdale, Muni, and Hi Corbett, and I liked Muni the best so far. The other two were nice as well; I especially liked Corbett’s older feel.

Cool
avoiding the wife’s wrath is always a good thing, but I’m looking forward to checking out HoHoKam Park.

November 15th is a family birthday here, so we’ll be otherwise engaged. Have fun everyone.

Jim, are you sure?
I mentioned it at dinner tonight, and it was pointed out that the soco’s have a proven track record when it comes to providing delicious birthday cakes. Just something to keep in mind, in case you want to reconsider the October date.

I believe the color was “sea foam green.”
And at least this time, there wouldn’t be a need to change the name on the cake.

It was sea foam green
I might be Chris-blind but at least I’m not color blind.

By the way...
I apologize for freaking you out when my plate mysteriously floated over to the chair by the patio door and was eaten slowly, even though the chair was empty.

Hiding comments be damned
but we tried to go to a game today at Phoenix Muni and they only could take cash (yes, before anyone hurf durfs, I should have been prepared, but how many places don’t have ATM’s anymore? What is this, 1950?). “Okay,” I said. “Where’s an ATM?” “We haven’t got one” was the answer.
Fuck you Phoenix Muni.

Well yeah
but I didn’t have any cash. And the biggest question mark to me is why isn’t there an ATM of any sort at Phoenix Muni?

I coulda sworn
Muni had ATMs during spring training. Inside the gates, of course.
Dont mean to discount your frustration – I definitely feel your pain in an era of high gas prices and it just as easily could have been me out there fuming with my bank card – but the AFL is also quite a low budget operation with attendance more in line with a small high school football game than with spring ball – let alone anything major league. I know it’s affiliated with MLB and is starting to grow, but part of the alleged charm is supposed to be that 1950’s atmosphere that dicked you over.
Look on the bright side. At least they’re admitting blacks now. Give credit where credit’s due ;-)

Two tickets for us
Looking forward to it.
Semi-related, how did Scherzer do in his starts?

Pretty well
Second start was yesterday, and he struck out nine in five innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Looks like they’re trying to get him to work on his secondary pitches, according to this report. Hopefully, that’ll work better than it did for Micah Owings…

Didn’t you have a similar excuse last time?
Come on, it’s a whole stadium we haven’t banned, unbanned, rebanned, and then unbanned (as long as you aren’t alone) you from!

Well, kinda.
Last time it was that it was tthe weekend before classes start. I think I might actually have a concert on this weekend.
Plus, no ride down if Chris isn’t going.
And, I have been kicked out of Hohokam before. Long story.

No no.
No no no no.
No no.
Sadly, mid-semester trips (even on weekends) are few and far between for me. I had to reschedule all kinds of stuff just to get last weekend cleared for my bro’s birthday.
Sad panda, all that jazz.

Update with info
Here’s what I have as ticket requesters for Saturday, between here and DBBP:
TAP (4)
qudjy1 (2)
Guitar Salad (2)
Driaz (2)
Prosopis (6)
Minime8484 (2)
marionette (2)
soco (2)
kishi (2) [or did you cancel? I vaguely recall someone couldn’t make it…]
We aim to get there about 5-5:30pm, and will be hanging in the parking lot till first pitch, as close to the entrance as we can get. We drive a blue PT Cruiser with a D-backs license tag and promotional magnets on the side for Mrs. SnakePit’s shows. [No promotional opportunity unwasted!] So please join us. Some beer and snacks will be supplied – more are always welcome, though I don’t think we will quite be doing the monumental shoewizard rolling buffet. :-)
