O-Dawg's New Deal

Maybe I'm way behind on this one, but I got a text from my family saying that O-Dawg signed a new deal.  I couldn't find this on the web anywhere though, and figured this was the best place to ask.  I think this would be great for the club.

Bonifacio will be good, but I think especially without TC in the clubhouse, we need the veteran voice.

So...is it true?

Just an arbitration avoidance one-year fix
Link:
The Diamondbacks managed to avoid the arbitration process for another year, signing all five remaining arbitration-eligible players to one-year contracts Friday. Orlando Hudson, Brandon Lyon, Chris Snyder and newcomers Chris Burke and Chad Qualls received one-year deals, leaving the D-Backs with little business until spring training opens with a first workout Feb. 16.

In O-Dawg's case, there might be such a thing
as too much veteran voice.

But, yeah. It's not THE deal that we've been waiting for, unfortunately. THAT deal very well may not get signed. :(

Come on, Sandy Baby, loosen up. You're too tight.

More info on the contracts
  • Hudson $6,250,000 [2006: $3.9m]
  • Lyon $3,125,000 [$1.5m]
  • Snyder $1,875,000 [$400K]
  • Qualls $1,312,500 [$441K]
  • Burke $955,000 [$415K]
It's the final year of arbitration for O-Dawg and War, while it's the first year for the other three. More detailed analysis to follow later, as this basically locks the Opening Day payroll down.

I feel that...
...O-Dawg's value has been undervalued at the BOB.

some have argued that we could move Mark Reynolds there a la Jeff Kemp but the BOB is not Dodger Stadium.

We need solid D up the middle and throughout as we don't want to give up extra outs at our park.

Pitching and D is how I would build a team that plays 81 games at the BOB.
