Johngordonma called me to task for some excessive negativity...(rightfully so). I went and looked at Chris Young a little closer.
The respect for CY's power is finally turning into some walks.
It's not huge, but in his first 439 PA he walked just 27 times, or 6.15%
Since August 14th, he has walked 15 times in 158 PA, or 9.49%
If by next year he can get his walk rate up to 12%, we'll have a monster on our hands.
650 PA, x 12% = 78 walks.
Even 10% over an entire season or 65 walks would make him a total offensive force to be reckoned with.
Oh...since August 14th he's hitting .270/340/.628, not including tonight. He has improved a lot, and as teams start to respect his power, the walks and OBP should continue to rise.
Thanks John...for the positive thinking. I needed it.
