Remember last week, when the Red Sox traded Wily Mo Pena plus cash to the Nationals, for the ever-popular "player to be named"? Well, it turns out that PTBN was Chris Carter. The Nats got Wily Mo, the Sox got Carter, and we got... righty Emiliano Fruto, who this season is 3-9 with a 5.26 ERA in 18 appearances (16 starts) for Triple-A Columbus.
Chris Carter was hitting .324 with 18 HRs and 84 RBIs at Triple-A Tucson.
I have a few theories about this deal, but I'd like to hear what other people have to say first.
On a personal note, I sure as hell hope Josh Byrnes knows what he's doing.
