Okay, so I didn't go to the 'showclub' after all, even though Mrs. SnakePit had to work this afternoon. It's probably for the best, since I suspect she could detect the scent of 'the very lovely' Tiffany on me, like a shark smelling a teaspoon of blood from ten miles off. And with much the same results. :-) So I'm here, with a cold beer, a bag of extremely spicy pork rinds - I think they just dumped a cup of pepper into the bag - and a firm belief that the luckiest day of the millennium will bring good things for Arizona.
Obscure trivia. We haven't seen a Diamondback have a three-hit game since Conor Jackson on June 25th. That's the longest drought since 2004, when we went from June 29th-July 18th without seeing one. If we get through today and tomorrow, our next game isn't until July 13th, so we'll definitely have a shot at that mark. However, I feel a good start is in order for Webb, buoyed by the news that he will be going to the All-Star Game after all. Eight innings of one-run ball: there, I'm calling it.
Bonus points today for the best use of the opposing pitcher's first name in their comment. Classical or Simpsons references will no doubt be flying.
