AZ SnakePit Fantasy Baseball, Week 13

Results

AZ SnakePit 5, Chupacabras 4 No sweep for Snake this time, but they rode Ben Sheets (2 W + 16 K's) to victory, despite a 2.27 ERA for Chupa. Gagne's three saves were also crucial, though neither team managed much offensive, with no player homering more than once. Sizemore (Chupa) led all players with 7 RBI.

dbacktom 0, Desert Dingleberries 10 What a difference a week makes. Swept last week, Dingle stormed back to pass it on, shutting tom out entirely - and it wasn't close. Hoffman had four saves, and the team WHIP was 0.94: Hernandez had six RBI to lead the offense and Willie Harris stole three bases for Dingle.

The Fighting Amish 2, GregSchulteOverdrive 7 Greg turned on the power with 12 homers, behind Beltran's four, and the speed too - Pierre stole eight bases. They swept hitting as a result, but found Amish a tougher nut to crack on the mound, thanks to Sabathia's 2 W, 16 K week. Strikeouts were tied at 40.

4 K's 4 Gonzo 6, Baked 4 A game of two halfs, with Gonzo taking all the hitting categories, but Baked dominating pitching. However, Accardo's two saves gave that to Gonzo, and proved the winning margin. Johnson (Gonzo) had a 3 HR, 7 RBI week, while Bonderman (Baked) had 16 K's to lead all pitchers.

Crazy VIII's 5, CoJack Forever 5 A see-saw contest ended with honors even: CoJack took HR by one point to force a tie, and have Stewart's 3 homers to thank. Hudson (2 W, 15 K) was their pitching star as they had a 2.61 ERA. For VIII, Borowski and Putz combined for two wins and five saves; Griffey drove in seven.

Bob Melvin Sucks 6, 7-2 Offsuiters 3 Melvin batted .324, with Utley and Konerko each homering three times. However, their pitching staff was winless, despite Shields' 21 K's. Howard has 3 homers for 7-2, and Lofton stole four bases. Saves ended level at one, with Weathers and Greinke unable to prevail.

BBTNG 6, Tucson Myth 4 Maholm and Vazquez each had 1 W + 10 K's for BBTNG, who had a team ERA of 2.64; Jenks had four saves as well, and pitching was theirs all the way. Myth responded by hitting .350, behind Willingham's .500 week, while Atkins homered three times and drove in eight for them.

Douchebaggery 7, Kapsaicin Kids 3 Douche moved back on top with this solid win: Garland had two W's, and Lee and Hafner powered the offense, with three HR each. DeRosa drove in ten, as Douche batted over .300. Nathan's two saves and Reyes + Taveras's two swiped bags were the main source of points for Kids.

The Don Quixotes 6, warlords 2 Don were "good enough" at the plate, taking all five points despite no-one having more than six runs or RBI, and Thames their only multi-HR week. Olsen (Don) had a W and 10 K's on the mound. Estrada led war with 8 RBI, and Smoltz had a W and 7 K's, but Wins and Saves ended level.

Shenanigans 8, Webby17 2 Shen rolled over Webby, because the losers managed just one homer all week, with no wins or saves. Youkilis' 8 RBI proved enough, as no-one on Shen had more than three, but Young's win and 9 K's was good enough for Shen. Jones had two saves, but still got benched: Victorino had 2 HR and 2 SB.

4 K's for Gonzo take on GregSchulteOverdrive in the Game of the Week. Gonzo haven't been beaten in nine weeks, though had more trouble with last-placed Baked last round than you'd expect. RBIs, Wins and K's are Gonzo's strengths, though the loss Burnett to the DL will hurt them, especially in strikeouts. Greg lack saves, and have no recognised closer, but have only lost twice in runs, and RBI is also good for them, with only Melvin having more than their 391. A pair of Twins (Morneau and Hunter) have combined for 124 there, as well as 37 homers.
