Tough schedule coming up

Our next 10 games are against tough teams.  We have the Padres coming in for 3 games. then we go to Milwaukee for 4 and Chicago for 3 before going to Florida and Atlanta.  I think this is going to be an important stretch of games for the Dbacks.  How important are these games and how will the Dbacks perform?

Gonna be tough
That last burst before the All-Star break left me feeling we need seven games and Webb pitching on short rest, to beat the Cleveland Spiders. However, it's a reset and refresh to some extent: hopefully, it'll flush our lack of 'clutchiness' out of the system, because that's such a statistical aberration. The first series against the Padres will be key: think we need to take two of three, to narrow the gap a bit. Do that and we can go forward, but if we end up 4.5 or more back...

Byrnes?
I feel like if we fall a few more games behind the Friars by, say, the end of July, (nominal trade deadline) it'll be worth it to move Byrnes, much as I love having him on this team. But he's not part of the Dbacks of the future, who need to learn to win on their own.

Of course, if we're right in the thick of it, and Byrnes isn't slumping, (or at least not too badly) I say we keep him.

Come on, Sandy Baby, loosen up. You're too tight.

I just don't see
how trading your best player in almost every offensive category could possibly make us better. What would we get for him, more prospects? And who exactly is ready to play All-Star-calibur ball in our system that can so easily replace him?

The problem is salary.
AZSEAFAN, see my diary.

Replace
"that can so easily replace him"

We're probably not going to be able to resign him anyway. But, see diary.
