Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Time To let Bygones be Bygones

Here, we start a new chapter in the 2006 MLB Season. We have to support our team to the fullest these up incoming games because not only for the performance of our Diamondbacks. But for the whole organization. We are in sudden crisis and we need to believe in our team. Believe in our team and keep the faith!

I know for a fact that our team's fan support was lessened because of the team's poor performance. And I will be the first to say I am sorry for killing the team of the large fall. But now, we are going to war with the enemy. Seriously, our enemy was the one who created the mess. Either its Russ Ortiz, Joe G, Grimsley, Mulonland (still dont care), or anyone else.

The points of this is that this is proof that we will not lose hope in our team anymore. You may call this useless, but its the power of the fans that can help. No matter what. Even if the defeat is by 100.

I'll sign first. Because of the fact that this is not a joke anymore. This is more of life. So many things are happening in the organization, so we have to support them no matter what. Remember that.

It's against the Giants
How can we not give them 110% support?

I'm in
Even during the Philly series, I knew this Mets series would be brutal.  Maybe that's why I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet.  I just want the guys to get back on track.  Just play hard.  Make pitchers who have control issues actually work to get them out.  That's all I need.  Win or lose, I want to see them play with passion.  I can forgive everything else.

Right on
If we met in real life, I'd give you respect knuckles.  And you'd laugh at me, 'cause I'm so white.  But you still earned 'em.

We're in a slump.  Yeah, we got beat around.  But it isn't the end.  We'll move on.

To do what my generation does best, reference 80s pop culture, "You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have-" baseball.

The post-Russ Ortiz era of D-backs baseball begins tonight.  Let's do this thing!

Hoorah
I would take it as kudos or respect. Thanks.

Anyways, yes you are right. Tonight begins the post-Russ Ortiz era! Let start it with a bang!

Who'll pick up the Manatee?
Hey Jim-- I think you need to add a new "watch" item on the right hand bar: the "Manatee Watch" -- how many days until he's picked up.

Not a very good game for us period. scoring was 8-2 and Batista fails to keep control.

Hey Ocho...
"...We have to support them no matter what..."
You sound like a Bush man.
Support Your Troops...the ones still alive, that is.
And don't get too attached.
You never know who's going to be "quietly removed".

by victor frankenstein on Jun 15, 2006 11:22 PM EDT reply actions

lol
Ocho... lol.

Anyways, if I sound like Bush, I sound like Bush. But I hate him overall. Not to mak ethis a presidental debate or anything.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "Keep the Faith"? Used by Red Sox Nation when they never won a World Series for 86 years? Well, we have to keep the faith towards or organization because of so many scandals of cheating money.

So, if you are going to bash me and or this team, then I suggest you step out. Because we are fans of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Logical fallaxy alert!
Okay, time out, folks.  Politics and war is a whole different thing.  This is baseball.  In the long run, a meaningless game, pure entertainment.  There's little harm in blindly supporting a team- way I was raised, sticking by them through the hard times is a noble attribute to be praised.

None of us are members of the D-Backs organization (right?) so it's not like we can do much to change things.  Nothing wrong with just sitting back and cheering them on, rain or shine.  And that's what this diary is for, cheering on 'em, no matter what.

Dang it!
Logical Fallacy.

Stupid typo...

by kishi on Jun 16, 2006 5:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Crees mis palabras, Senor Ocho.
I didn't say you sounded like Bush, just a Bush backer...
Have YOU ever heard the term "Blind Faith" ?
Please don't misundertake me, I have a lot of respect for...the players. Always good adversaries.
Your broadcasting team has a hard time defining "objective" , and we can overlook that as well...
but Kendrick is looming as something which is not a long - term positive, which doesn't sound like a
good rebuilding block. But keep th' faith, baby.

Let's Go Mets!

D-Backs' future
"Kendrick is looming as something which is not a long-term positive, which doesn't sound like a good rebuilding block..."
SuitsMe--this makes no sense.  But, the sense I can make of it seems to me to be saying that the D-Backs don't have a bright future under Kendrick.
And this coming from a Giants fan!?!?!
Sorry man, you're the organization with the horrific future on the horizon.  The D-Backs will be killing the Giants in the near future (2-3 years)... mark my words.

by johngordonma on Jun 16, 2006 11:46 AM EDT reply actions

I know you are, but what am I?
Yeah, well, sometimes the words get away from me, John...Gordon...Ma...(Are you a three-way split personality? CALM DOWN. I'M KIDDING.Sheesh...you Blanks fans sure are a sensitive lot these days!)
We all gots our issues, to be sure...now pay VERY close attention to what I am about to say...
I think your team is pretty GOOD. Did you get that? I'm paying your team a compliment. That's a nice thing...OK? And I want your pretty GOOD team...to stay that way, OK? I want your pretty GOOD team to be able to sign some more pretty GOOD players...
See, John, I'm still saying NICE things about YOUR team...now, in order to keep attracting GOOD players to your GOOD team, John, you need to axe your BAD, BAD General Manager. Are we still OK here, John? I want GOOD things to happen to YOUR team, and the first GOOD thing is to get rid of the BAD man upstairs.
GOOD luck with your GOOD team, John.
Now, I'm going into the BATHROOM, and THROW UP.

Shurely shome mishtake...
[ you need to axe your BAD, BAD General Manager. ]

Tsk, tsk. Your criticism would be a little more credible if it was factually accurate... ;-)Josh Byrnes is the general manager - and by all accounts, is pretty good. Ken Kendrick, to whom you refer, is a Managing General Partner, an entirely different position entirely.

[Josh Byrnes is the general manager - and by all accounts, is pretty good.]

I beg to differ.

As I pecked that out...
...a tiny voice told me to check my Title Facts..
Sorry, Mr. Byrnes...although Nihil's got issues with you.
Regardless of the error, the sentiment stands. Every time Ken says anything, I shudder for the stability of Az. baseball.
Y'know, I'm hanging out here WAY too much...

Jimmy Mac...
Thank you for the suggestion, you're a gracious host. However, my 2nd favorite team isn't whoever plays Seattle - so why pick on them, heee heee?
If I popped in on every blog the Ants visited I'd waste more time hunting - and - pecking than I already do. Besides...some of them are damn near dormant. Go to True Blue LA , and check the date of the last diary...it's astonishing (Or I traveled back in time....Man, would THAT be handy!)

Rays
Definitely not a good way to start a series, period, but losing to the Rays adds a bit more to the embarassment factor. (Although, this Devil Rays team is showing life right now and truly has an above average offense).

at least
our offense is showing up. I mean, we need our pitching to step it up.
