Worrel signed a two-year contract with the Giants. Good news. Why? Even though we missed out on his "veteran presence" we currently have the Gnats' second round(assuming they don't sign another "Type A" free agent) and a supplemental pick.

Nomar has garnered intrest some the D'Backs to play second base or centerfield according to Gambo. Byrnes isn't that stupid to place Garciaparra in center but second base on the other hand is probably something to consider at the right price.

Nomah for center?

Not sure if this was the same Gambo reference [it's dated 12/02, later than your diary], but if not, he does keep banging on about it:

D-Backs interested in Garciaparra as outfielder
"Garciaparra, who is a free agent, is willing to move positions, and the Diamondbacks have had internal discussions about whether to offer the former Red Sox star a contract."

Seems unlikely to me; there'll be plenty of teams happy to have Garciaparra for their infield, he won't need to change positions. Offering him the necessary boatload of extra money to get him to play an unknown position would be rank stupidity, IMHO.
